The purpose of cattle vaccines is to provide protection from disease through immune system memory and minimize risk among the herd. With a cattle vaccination schedule in place, this provides additional insurance for the producer to protect cattle from a variety of diseases. Find the disease coverage you need by shopping Leedstone’s beef cattle vaccine selection. Leedstone offers a wide range of common cattle vaccines from globally recognized manufactures like Zoetis, Merck, Boehringer Ingelheim, Elanco and more! Providing you with trusted protection no matter what you are vaccinating against. You’ll find products like 7 way and 8 way clostridial cattle vaccine, blackleg protection, tetanus and lepto vaccine for cattle.
There are two main types of cattle vaccines, modified live vaccine (MLV) such as bovi shield gold and killed vaccines like triangle 10 vaccine. MLV’s are non-disease causing portions of a virus or bacteria which replicate within the animal like the actual disease would without making the animal sick. Killed vaccines do not contain live virus or bacteria, but dead portions that do not replicate within the animal. Additionally, combination vaccines are available (contains both modified live and killed portions). The live portions provide protection in one dose with the killed portions requiring a booster for sufficient protection.
Common diseases beef cattle are vaccinated for are like viral and bacterial, respiratory viruses, reproductive viruses , clostridial disease, and pinkeye. Core vaccinations for cattle are determined by the risk of exposure in your region and your veterinarian. There is no “cookie-cutter” protocol to fit all beef cattle operations. Your veterinarian will help determine a vaccine protocol for a successful operation.
Leedstone is your source for new vaccines, vaccines for newborn calves, beef quality assurance vaccines such as intranasal administration, scour and pinkeye vaccine, and all your routine herd health vaccines.
