The only two-dose E.coli mastitis vaccine, J-Vac can be administered at any stage in lactation. So you can vaccinate with less effort, even in the humid months when risk is at its highest.

For use in healthy cattle as an aid to protect against coliform mastitis caused by E.coli as well as endotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella typhimurium.

Labeled for: beef and dairy cows, heifers and calves

Species: cattle, calf

  • The only two-dose E. coli mastitis vaccine means reduced labor costs and animal stress.
  • Can be given at any stage in lactation, making it possible to implement a whole herd vaccination at times when risk is highest (e.g., humid months).
  • Contains a killed Escherichia coli (E. coli) antigen. Also contains gentacin and nystatin as preservatives.
  • The organisms that cause coliform mastitis are widespread in the environment especially in hot, humid, or wet areas. The economic impact these can have on a herd can be devastating. Given to healthy cattle, this vaccine aids in preventing E. coli mastitis. It can also reduce the effects of endotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella typhimurium. The symptoms are fever, abnormal milk, significantly reduced milk production, udder edema, dehydration, and in severe cases death. Some animals may never recover fully. Vaccination and good herd management are key to prevention.
  • Store at 35 to 45 ËšF (2 to 7 ËšC); do not freeze. Do not expose to heat or direct light.
  • Do not use chemicals to sterilize syringes and needles.
  • For veterinary use only. In rare instances, administration of this vaccine may cause lethargy, fever and inflammatory or hypersensitivity types of reactions.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days prior to slaughter.
  • Treatment may include antihistamines, anti-inflammatories and/or epinephrine.

Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened.

As an aid in the prevention of mastitis: Administer one 2 ml dose intramuscularly or subcutaneously at 7 months gestation or at dry-off. Revaccinate at 1 to 3 weeks prior to calving. Revaccinate annually with the same protocol as above.

As an aid in the prevention of the effects of endotoxemia: A whole herd vaccination may be done at any time. Vaccinate with a 2 ml dose followed by a second dose 2 to 4 weeks later. Revaccinate annually as above.
