Boehringer Ingelheim Citadel L5 HB is a killed lepto vaccine for cattle and swine. Provides protection against the 5 most common strains of leptospirosis including Harjo-bovis. Leptospira can infect an animal through mucus membranes or breaks in the skin. It invades the kidneys and reproductive tract. Eventually infections can cause abortions in pregnant cattle and problems breeding back open cattle. This vaccine prevents disease caused by 5 forms of lepto. Leptospira canicola, grippotyphosa, hardjo, icterohaemorrhagiae and pomona.

Labeled for: beef cattle, lactating and non-lactating dairy cattle and swine

  • Helps clear renal infections and stop urine shedding in vaccinated heifers subsequently exposed to L. borgpetersenii serovar hardjo.
  • The low cost of the vaccine far outweighs the cost of the loss of even one fetal calf from infection.
  • This product can be used in both cattle and swine; multiple purposes with one vaccine.
  • Contains chemically inactivated, highly antigenic whole cultures of Leptospira canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. hardjo, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, and L. pomona.
  • Contains neomycin and thimerosal as preservatives.
  • Store out of direct sunlight at 35 to 45 °F (2 to 7 °C); avoid freezing. Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Do not use within 21 days of slaughter.
  • Anaphylactic reactions may occur; use epinephrine as antidote.

Mix well before use. Using aseptic technique, inject 2 ml subcutaneously or intramuscularly in healthy cattle, or intramuscularly in swine. A second dose is recommended 3 to 6 weeks later. Repeat with a single 2-ml dose annually prior to breeding.

Cattle and swine vaccinated at an early age should be revaccinated after weaning.
