This product helps prevent reproductive and urinary tract colonization of leptospirosis and urinary shedding for 12 months. Safe to use for pregnant animals, Spirovac L5 also aids in the prevention of fetal infection resulting in healthier calves, as well as preventing host animals to spread the disease.

For use in healthy cattle to prevent infection from 5 common strains of leptospira, including Leprospira hardjo bovis, L. grippotyphosa, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, L. pomona and L. canicola.

Labeled for: beef and (lactating and non-lactating) dairy cattle and calves 4 weeks of age or older

Species: cattle, calf

  • Prevents colonization of lepto hardjo in the kidneys reducing urinary shedding and transmission of disease.
  • Protects against transmission to the fetus; meaning a greater birthing success and healthier calves, as well as preventing host animals to spread the disease.
  • Provides a 12-month immunity, meaning less labor costs and more confidence that your herd is protected.
  • Can be given to pregnant animals; implementing into a whole herd vaccination program is easy.
  • The vaccine uses antigens from common strains of leptospirosis; Leptospira canicola, grippotyphosa, icterohaemorrhagiae, and pomona. It also contains a unique strain of hardjo-bovis that protects against reproductive and renal tract colonization and urinary shedding as well as protection from fetal infection. Leptospirosis strains can exhibit similar symptoms but need strain specific vaccines in order to effectively protect against each one. Leptospirosis can have a huge economic impact on herds: causing abortion, lowered conception rates, and weak or stillborn calves in infected adult cattle; and weakness, anemia, blood in the urine, and loss of appetite in infected calves.
  • Store out of sunlight at 35 to 45 ËšF (2 to 7 ËšC). Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • Anaphylactic reactions may occur; use epinephrine as initial antidote followed with supportive therapy.
  • Product has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. Animals that are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished, parasitized, stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions or are otherwise immuno-compromised may adversely affect the immune response to this vaccine.

Sterile syringes and needles should be used to administer vaccine. Shake well before using.

Administer 2 ml subcutaneously or intramuscularly—high on the side of the neck using an aseptic technique. For primary vaccination, healthy cattle 4 weeks of age or older should receive 2 doses 4 to 6 weeks apart.
