Zoetis Protivity Mycoplasma Bovis Cattle Vaccine is an avirulent live culture vaccine for use in healthy cattle 1 week of age or older. For use by, or under the guidance of, a veterinarian on premises with a history of M. bovis disease. Mycoplasma bovis is a cause of arthritis, mastitis and bovine respiratory disease (BRD). Respiratory disease caused by this bacteria in beef and dairy calves can lead to chronic, and irreversible lung damage and mortality. Protivity vaccine helps control and prevent the spread of M. bovis in calf operations.

  • Safe for use in healthy calves as young as 1 week of age.
  • Effective vaccine to aid in decreased transmission of mycoplasma bovis.
  • Avirulent live vaccine.
  • May cause transient injection site swellings which typically resolve within 21 days of vaccination.
  • Not tested in pregnant or lactating animals.
  • Store at 2 to 8 °C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures and/or direct sunlight may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.
  • Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Sterilized syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine. Do not sterilize with chemicals as traces of disinfectant may render the vaccine inactivate.
  • Inactivate unused contents before disposal.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • As with many vaccines, anaphylaxis may occur after use. Initial antidote of Epinephrine is recommended and should be followed with appropriate supportive therapy.
  • Do not mix with other products, except as specified on the label.
  • In case of human exposure, contact a physician.

General directions: Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the sterile diluent provided, mix well and administer 2 ml subcutaneously.

Primary vaccination: Healthy cattle should receive two doses administered 21 days apart.

Revaccination: The need for annual booster vaccination has not been established for this product; consultation with a veterinarian or the manufacturer is recommended.
