Zoetis StayBred VL5 for beef cows is for the vaccination of healthy cows and heifers to aid in prevention of 5 strains of lepto plus the addition of vibrio (Camplobacter fetus). This killed vaccine contains protection against leptospirosis caused by Leptospira canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. hardjo, L. icterohaemorrhagiae, and L. pomona. Also aids in preventing vibrosis caused by Camplyobacter fetus. A 2-ml dose is given IM to all breeding-aged cows and heifers 30 to 60 days prior to breeding or being added to the breeding herd.

Labeled for: beef cows and heifers

Species: cattle

  • A cost-effective method in controlling reproductive diseases in adult cattle caused by Campylobaceriosis and leptospirosis.
  • Aids in prevention against vibrio and 5 lepto strains which can result in reproductive losses in bred cattle.
  • Store at 2 to 7 °C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.
  • Use entire contents when first opened.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • Occasional hypersensitivity reactions may occur up to 18 hours post-vaccination; observe animals during this period. While this event appears to be rare overall, dairy cattle may be affected more frequently than other cattle. Animals affected may display excessive salivation, incoordination, and/or dyspnea. Animals displaying such signs should be treated immediately with Epinephrine or equivalent. In nonresponsive animals, other modes of treatment should be considered.
  • Anaphylaxis may occur after use. Initial antidote of epinephrine is recommended and should be followed with appropriate supportive therapy.
  • Due to the increased risk of adverse reactions in dairy cattle, this vaccine is not recommended for use in dairy breeds.
  • This product has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals.

Aseptically inject an intramuscular dose of 2-ml followed by a second dose, two to four weeks later, given to all breeding-aged cows and heifers 30 to 60 days before exposure or being added to the breeding herd.

Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
