Spirovac is unique in attacking the hardjo bovis virus—preventing colonization in the reproductive and renal tract and urinary shedding for up to 12 months in healthy cattle. It also aids in the prevention of fetal infection; and is safe for pregnant animals; little to no injection site reaction, minimizing tissue damage.

Aids in the prevention of infection by Leptospira borgpetersenii serovar type of hardjo bovis.

Labeled for: beef and (lactating and non-lactating) dairy cattle and calves

Species: cattle, calf

  • This vaccine is the only one that can prevent colonization by hardjo bovis in the kidneys and the reproductive tract which decreases the possibility of spreading disease due to a contaminated environment.
  • Clinically proven to aid in prevention of disease in fetuses. This can prevent the birth of persistently infected calves that can spread disease within a herd.
  • There has been little to no injection site reaction observed which can mean less tissue damage.
  • Contains chemically inactivated whole cultures of Leptospira borgpetersenii serovar type hardjo bovis.
  • By preventing colonization of renal and reproductive tract the vaccine reduces incidence of disease and the spread of new infections. This strain of leptospira causes fever, anemia, blood in the urine and loss of appetite in calves. In adult cattle it can lead to reduced milk production, reproduction losses including abortion and low conception rates, and weak calves. Many infections are subclinical and cause a huge economic loss to herds. Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease and can cause flu-like symptoms in humans as well.
  • Store away from light at 35 to 45 ËšF (2 to 7 ËšC); do not freeze.
  • Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may adversely affect potency.
  • Do not use within 21 days of slaughter.
  • Anaphylactic reactions may occur; use epinephrine as an initial antidote and follow with supportive therapy.
  • This vaccine has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. If animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished, parasitized, stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, or otherwise immune-compromised it may affect the efficacy of the vaccine.

For use in healthy cattle 4 weeks of age or older. Sterile syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine. Shake well before use.

Administer 2 ml subcutaneously in the neck using an aseptic technique and following Beef Quality Assurance guidelines. Healthy cattle should receive 2 doses 4 to 6 weeks apart for primary vaccination. When using as an aid in preventing fetal protection, administer the second dose at least 2 weeks prior to breeding. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
