Protects against infection and colonization of the reproductive and renal tracts as well as preventing urinary shedding for 12 months. Aids in preventing fetal infection and can be given to calves as young as 4 weeks old. This vaccine also protects against the disease commonly known as Vibrio, which is important when breeding with bulls because it’s a reproductive disease that can reduce conception rates as well as cause abortion.

Protects against the Leptospira hardjo-bovis—the most commonly found lepto strain in U.S. cattle. Also protects against L. pomona, L. grippotyphosa, L. canicola, L. icterohaemorrhagiae and Campylobacter fetus (Vibrio).

Labeled for: beef and (lactating and non-lactating) dairy cattle and calves 4 weeks of age or older

Species: cattle, calf

  • Contains a specially prepared, inactivated and adjuvanted unique strain of Leptospira borgpetersenii serovar hardjo-bovis, which most other VL5 vaccines do not have; together with inactivated and adjuvanted cultures of Lepto, meaning better protection for your herd.
  • Prevents hardjo-bovis from infecting the kidneys and reproductive tract, as well as protecting from fetal infection—effectively stopping transmission of the disease.
  • Can be given to calves as young as 4 weeks.
  • Protects against Vibrio which is important when breeding with bulls since it is a reproductive disease that can reduce conception rates as well as cause abortion creating an economic loss the herd.
  • Uses antigens from common strains of leptospirosis; Leptospira canicola, grippotyphosa, icterohaemorrhagiae, and pomona. It also contains a unique strain of hardjo-bovis that protects against reproductive and renal tract colonization and urinary shedding as well as protection from fetal infection.
  • Leptospirosis strains can exhibit similar symptoms but need strain specific vaccines in order to effectively protect against each one. Leptospirosis can have a huge economic impact on herds by causing abortion, lowered conception rates, and weak or stillborn calves in infected adult cattle and weakness, anemia, blood in the urine, and loss of appetite in infected calves.
  • The Campylobacter fetus portion of the vaccine protects against a venereal disease more commonly known as Vibrio. This disease also causes abortion and embryonic death. Bulls are carriers of C. fetus.
  • Store away from light at 35 to 45 ËšF (2 to 7 ËšC); do not freeze. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures may adversely affect potency.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter.
  • Occasional hypersensitivity reactions may occur for up to 18 hours post-vaccination; dairy cattle are rarely more susceptible to reactions. Owners are advised to observe cattle during this period. Animals displaying excessive salivation, incoordination, and/or dyspnea (shortness of breath) should be treated immediately with epinephrine or equivalent and followed with supportive therapy.
  • A protective immune response may be inhibited if the animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished, parasitized, stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, otherwise immune-compromised, or the vaccine is not administered following label directions.

Shake well before using. Use in healthy animals 4 weeks of age or older. Use entire contents when first opened.

Administer 5 ml using aseptic technique subcutaneously or intramuscularly high on the side of the neck. For primary vaccination animals should receive 2 doses 4 to 6 weeks apart.

When used as a aid in preventing genital or fetal infection the booster dose should be completed at least 2 weeks prior to breeding. Include bulls in the vaccination program. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
