Merck Prestige 5+WNV Horse Vaccine provides core vaccine protection with the addition of West Nile virus. Provides protection against Eastern Encephalomyelitis, Western Encephalomyelitis, Rhinopneumonitis (EHV-1 and EHV-4), Influenza (including H3N8 strains EIV A/eq/Florida/RW/13, EIV A/Equine 2/Kentucky/02 American, EIV A/eq/Richmond/1/07), West Nile virus, and Tetanus Toxoid. Prestige vaccines have been shown to be 98% reaction-free in field safety trials. Formulated with the adjuvant Havlogen and an Antigen Purification System to stimulate a strong immune response while reducing incidences of adverse reactions.

  • A combination of inactivated, concentrated, adjuvanted, tissue culture origin equine encephalomyelitis viruses (Eastern and Western), equine herpesviruses Types 1 and 4 (EHV-1 and EHV-4), equine influenza virus Type H3N8 strains (EIV A/Equine 2/ Kentucky/93 American, EIV A/Equine 2/Kentucky/02 American and EIV A/Equine 2/Newmarket/2/93 Eurasian) and tetanus toxoid. Intervet serological data suggests influenza cross-protection against certain U.S. and European strains, including Kentucky 91, 93, 99, 02, Ohio 03, Newmarket/1/93, Newmarket/2/93, Suffolk 89 and South Africa 03.
  • Store at 2 to 8 °C (35 to 46 °F).
  • Shake product well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not mix with other products.
  • This product has not been tested in pregnant animals.
  • Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
  • Inject deep into the muscle only. Local reactions may occur at the injection sites in vaccinates, and most of these reactions resolve in 3 to 7 days following vaccination.
  • Systemic reactions may also occur in animals following vaccination. If allergic reaction occurs, treat with Epinephrine.
  • Care should be used to avoid injecting your own fingers, hands, or other body parts. Accidental injection can cause serious local reactions. In case of human exposure, contact a physician.

For primary vaccination aseptically administer 1-ml intramuscularly, repeat with a single dose in 3 to 4 weeks. Historically, annual revaccination with this product has been recommended. The need for this booster has not been established. The presence of maternal antibody is known to interfere with the development of active immunity in foals and additional boosters will be required in most young animals. For more information on revaccination frequency, consult your veterinarian.
