Bimedia OvaCyst (gonadorelin) injectable solution is indicated for the treatment of cystic ovaries in cattle, including dairy cattle. OvaCyst initiates the release of endogenous LH (luteinizing hormone) to cause ovulation and luteinization. It is a sterile liquid solution with a drug concentration of 50 mcg/ml of gnrh. Gnrh for cows is for the treatment of cystic ovaries in dairy cattle, and reproductive synchronization in beef and dairy cattle to allow timed artificial insemination.

Species: cattle

  • Physiologically and chemically identical to endogenous bovine hypothalamic releasing factor (GnRH).
  • Gonadorelin diacetate tetrahydrate has been shown to be safe in a number of studies.
  • Can be administered IV or IM.
  • No refrigeration required.
  • Gonadorelin is the hypothalamic releasing factor responsible for the release of gonadotropins (e.g., LH, FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland.
  • Each ml contains 50 mcg of gonadorelin diacetate tetrahydrate, 9 mg benzyl alcohol and 7.47 mg sodium chloride.
  • Not for use in humans.
  • Discard product 5 days after first use.
  • Store at controlled room temperature 68 to 77 °F.
  • No milk or meat withhold.

Beef and dairy cattle Synchronization of estrous cycles to allow fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI):

Time 0:  Administer intramuscular, 2 ml (100 mcg) gonadorelin/cow.
Day 6 to 8: 500 mcg.

30 to 72 hours post initial cloprostenol injection: 2 ml (100 mcg) gonadorelin.
0 to 24 hours post 2nd cloprostenol injection: Perform FTAI or inseminate cows on detected estrus.

To treat cystic ovaries in dairy cattle:

Administer 2 ml intramuscular or intravenous.
