ProstaMate (dinoprost tromethamine) injection is indicated for use in cattle as a luteolytic agent. It is a sterile solution prostaglandin containing 5 mg/ml of dinoprost—a naturally occurring prostaglandin F2-alpha. For use in beef and dairy cattle in estrus synchronization, treatment of silent heats (unobserved estrus), abortions and chronic endometritis. Also approved for use with gonadorelin injection, such as OvaCyst for timed artificial insemination and Eazi-Breed CIDRs by Zoetis.

Indicated for parturition induction in swine; in horses for controlling the timing of estrus in estrous cycling mares or for difficult-to-breed mares (clinically anestrous mares with a corpus luteum).

  • For the estrus synchronization in beef cattle and non-lactating dairy heifers with a corpus luteum.
  • Treats unobserved (silent) estrus in lactating dairy cattle with a corpus luteum.
  • Also indicated for use in treatment of pyometra in cattle.
  • Can be used for abortion of feedlot and other non-lactating cattle.
  • Ideal for estrus cycling in anestrous mares which have a corpus luteum.
  • ProstaMate approved formulation and indication are equivalent to Lutalyse.
  • Approved by FDA.
  • Not for use in humans.
  • Women of childbearing age, asthmatics and persons with bronchial and other respiratory problems should exercise extreme caution when handling this product.
  • NSAIDs may inhibit prostaglandin synthesis; therefore this class of drugs should not be administered concurrently.
  • For use in animals only.
  • Do not use in horses intended for human consumption.
  • Do not administer intravenously.
  • Each ml contains dinoprost tromethamine equivalent to 5 mg dinoprost; benzyl alcohol (9.5 mg) added as preservative.
  • Read the entire label before using. Use with caution; this product can cause unintended abortions in pregnant animals.
  • Use within 3 months of first puncture and puncture a maximum of 20 times with a needle or 5 times with a dosage delivery device.

Approved for IM administration only. Administer the indicated amount depending on species.

Cattle:  25 mg (5 ml) per cow.

Swine:  10 mg (2 ml) per pig.

Horses:  1 mg/100 lb of bodyweight (usually 1 to 2 ml).
