FDA-approved prostaglandin option for breeding management of heifers and cows. Provides a concentrated, 2-ml dose of prostaglandin labeled for intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. Low volume dose helps reduce injection site irritation, blemishes and muscle damage in regards to IM route of administration.
Indicated for estrus synchronization, treatment of unobserved (silent) heats and post-partum treatment of pyometra (chronic endometritis or infection of the uterus) in cattle.
Labeled for: beef and dairy cattle
Species: cattle
Important Safety Information:
- For cattle use only. Not for use in horses or swine.
- Not for human use. Women of childbearing age and persons with respiratory problems should exercise extreme caution when handling Lutalyse and Lutalyse HighCon. It is readily absorbed through the skin and may cause abortion and/or bronchiospasms, therefore spillage on the skin should be washed off immediately with soap and water.
- Aseptic technique should be used to reduce the possibility of post-injection clostridial infections.
- Do not administer to pregnant cattle unless cessation of pregnancy is desired.
For estrous synchronization, inject 2 ml Lutalyse HighCon subcutaneously (SubQ) or intramuscularly (IM) either once or twice at 10- to 12-day intervals.
For treatment of unobserved estrus, inject a 2-ml dose SubQ or IM. If estrus has not been observed by 80 hours after injection, breed at 80 hours; if the cow returns to estrus, breed at the usual time relative to estrus.
For postpartum treatment of pyometra, inject a dose of 2 ml SubQ or IM at signs of pyometra (presence of a corpus luteum on the ovary and uterine horns containing fluid but not a conceptus based on palpation).
