BD Serum Separator Tubes are ideal for laboratory use in general chemistries, serology, and toxicology procedures. Sterile blood collection tubes are spray-coated silica to aid in clotting and a polymer gel for serum separation. Separates blood cells from serum for diagnostic procedures requiring a blood serum sample. Ideal for chemistry, blood donor screening and infectious disease testing. Sterilized interior with vacuum seal for quality performance; identifiable by red and gray mottled stopper.

Labeled for: beef and dairy cattle, calves, swine, sheep, goats, horses, dogs and cats

  • Easy-to-use clear tube with soft rubber stopper.
  • Blank label on tube for marking identification.
  • Contains silica clot activator, polymer gel, silicone-coated interior.
  • For venous blood collection.
  • Blood clotting time is 30 minutes.
  • Sterilization applies to the tube and stopper interior only, and not to the outside of the tube or packaging.

Use with blood collection needle and vacutainer to directly collect blood into blood collection tube. Or draw blood from the animal with a needle and syringe. Insert the needle in the center of rubber stopper (do not remove rubber stopper). Gently and slowly inject blood into the blood collection tube. Avoid injecting blood too fast, as it can cause damage to the blood cells. Allow blood to clot in tube before centrifuging.
