- Quick and easy on farm testing.
- Simple to read results.
- Meets FDA tolerance levels for penicillin G, ampicillin, cephapirin, amoxicillin, and ceftiofur.
- Please refer to your package insert for test-specific storage requirements. Refrigerate SNAP NBL Tests at 0–7°C (32–45°F). Refrigerate all other non-ST tests at 2–8°C (36–46°F).Â
- Tests can be kept at room temperature, 18–29°C (64–84°F), during the day of use. Remove only the number of tests to be used for the day.
- SNAP tests must be run at 45°C ±5°C (104–122°F). The portable heater blocks have internal thermostats optimized within the range of 40–50°C. Allow 10–15 minutes for the portable heater to reach operating temperature.
- If you do not see any color in the block’s temperature strip, do not attempt to run the test.
Remove as many tests as needed for the day from the refrigerator to warm to room temperature.
Preheat the temperature block and maintain temperature for 10 to 15 minutes at 45 °C (113 °F). Collect a raw, commingled milk sample. Remove test kit from the packaging. Verify reagent pellet is at the bottom of the sample tube. Place the SNAP test in the preheated heater block. The test should remain on heater block for the duration of the test.
Shake the milk sample thoroughly. Remove the sample tube cap. With the Idexx pipette, draw up the milk sample to the indicator line (avoiding air bubbles). Add the milk sample to the tube. Shake the sample tube to dissolve the reagent pellet. Incubate the sample tube in the block heater for 5 minutes.
Pour the entire contents in the tube into the sample well of the SNAP test. The sample will flow to the blue activation circle. When that BEGINS to disappear, push down the activator until it snaps. Read results in four minutes.
