Intramuscular injections should be made by directing the needle of suitable gauge and length into the fleshy part of a thick muscle in the neck region; avoid blood vessels and major nerves. Before injecting the solution, pull back gently on the plunger. If blood appears in the syringe, a blood vessel has been entered; withdraw the needle and select a different site.
Continue treatment 24 to 48 hours after signs of remission. Do not exceed 4 consecutive days.
Cattle dosage: 4.5-ml intramuscularly or subcutaneously per 100-lbs bodyweight. Do not administer more than 10-ml at any one injection site.
Swine dosage: 4.5-ml intramuscularly per 100-lbs bodyweight. No more than 5-ml should be injected at any one site in adult swine.
When administered IV, give slowly over a period of 5 minutes to avoid injury to the animal.
