Boehringer Ingelheim Bovikalc oral calcium bolus for cows provides supplemental calcium when they need it the most—at calving and the day after. Ideal for cows susceptible to milk fever upon freshening, Bovikalc offers rapid and sustained release of calcium to aid in prevention of hypocalcemia. The bolus disintegrates within 30 minutes upon entering the rumen and provides up to 12 hours of sustained released calcium.
Contains two types of calcium, calcium chloride and calcium sulphate, in a protective wax-coated bolus. The calcium chloride is available immediately, while the calcium sulfate provides the sustained release of calcium. The protective wax coating helps the bolus slide easily into the rumen and prevents early dissolution until it reaches the rumen. Give one bolus prior to, or immediately after, calving and a second bolus twelve hours later.
