Flexible foam shoes for the treatment of lame cows. Special material of the ‘block’ is soothing for the cow to walk on. Blocks can go on either claw and stay on 7 to 14 days. Best for use when there is mild lameness. The greatest advantage is the speed and ease of application.
Labeled for: beef and dairy cattle
Species: cattle
Treatment of the injured claw must be completed first and then the healthy claw is prepared for fitting the block. Use the Shoof Walkease® Hoof Rasp to prepare the healthy claw for gluing. The Walkease rasp provides the correct flat, clean and dry surface for the block to adhere to. The rasp must also be clean and dry before use.
Select the correct size that will support the whole hoof wall. Apply glue sparingly to block. Only use 2 ml per block. Apply the block by firmly pressing onto healthy claw for 10 seconds (longer in cold weather). The block should overlap the hoof wall by 2 or 3 mm. Drop the leg for the cow to put weight on the block. This will set the block very quickly. Trim away any excess glue that may squeeze out the side.
