Sulfamethazine Bolus is an antibacterial for use in calves to treat bacterial pneumonia, bacterial scours and calf diphtheria. Intended for calves over 1 month of age which are not on an all milk diet. Use in adult beef and non-lactating dairy cows to treat the following pathogens which are sensitive to sulfamethazine; bacterial pneumonia and bovine respiratory disease complex, (shipping fever complex; Pasteurella spp.), Colibacillosis (bacterial scours; E.coli), Necrotic pododermatitis (foot rot), Calf Diphtheria (Fusobacterium necrophorum), and Acute Metritis (Streptococcus spp.).  Active ingredient is Sulfamethazine in a sustained release formula to provide therapeutic levels in 6 hours of administration with persistency in providing this level for 72 hours. Available in cow and calf sized boluses.

  • Sustained release of Sulfamethazine.
  • Reaches therapeutic level in 6 hours post administration with lasting effects up to 3 days.
  • Do not use in female dairy cattle 20 months of age or older. Do not use in calves under 1 month of age.
  • 12-day slaughter-withhold.
  • Do not exceed more than 2 doses.
  • Store at controlled room temperature.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not crush the bolus.

Calf bolus: give orally 2 boluses per 100 lbs of body weight, repeat in 72 hours.

Cow bolus: give orally to beef cattle and non-lactating dairy cattle according to the following dosage schedule

This bolus may be divided for better approximation of correct dose; however, care should be taken not to crush the bolus. The above dosage schedule should be used at each 72-hour interval. Observe animals following administration to ensure boluses are not regurgitated. Lubricate bolus before dosing animals.
