Salix® (furosemide) is a diuretic that expels retained fluids to help reduce edema associated with cardiac insufficiency and acute non-inflammatory tissue in dogs, cats and horses. Helps treat congestive heart failure, liver disease and certain kidney diseases; and can also be a part of a treatment in animals with high blood pressure.

In cattle it is indicated for the treatment of edema (swelling) of the mammary gland and associated structures.

  • Relieves uncomfortable excess fluid.
  • Helps your pet feel comfortable again.
  • Each ml contains 50 mg furosemide.
  • Milk taken during treatment and for 48 hours (four milkings) after the last treatment must not be used for food; 48-hour slaughter withhold.
  • Do not use in horses intended for human consumption.
  • When first starting your pet on this medication, an increase in urination is common.
  • Store in a cool dry place and away from children.
  • Do not use the solution if it appears discolored; do not puncture the stopper more than 32 times. Store between 59 and 86 °F; do not freeze. Protect from light and use within 28 days of first vial puncture.

Tablet form: Give orally as prescribed by your veterinarian. Administer at the same time daily.

Cattle injectable dosage: Administer IV or IM, 10 ml once daily or 5 ml twice daily at 12 hour intervals. Do not treat for more than 48 hours post-parturition.

Horse injectable dosage: Administer IV or IM, 5 to 10 ml once daily or twice daily at 6 to 8 hour intervals.
