Re-Sorb oral hydration electrolyte for scouring calves is a powder formula. Mix with water to create an oral electrolyte for calves. Non-medicated electrolyte containing oral glucose / glycine compound; absorbed by the calf’s small intestine along with water and sodium to correct dehydration. Provides sources of sodium and potassium to help increase water absorption by the small intestine. Recommended for treating dehydration caused by scours in calves, including veal calves; use as prophylactic treatment at first signs of scours, or as a follow-up treatment for calves treated with IV fluids. Re-Sorb helps replenish lost electrolytes and fluids caused by diarrhea. Palatable formula is accepted by calves, reducing the stress of administering by a tube feeding.

  • The single portion packets allow fast and easy mixing with no wasted product.
  • Approved for use in veal calves.
  • Isotonic, containing about the same concentration of electrolytes as natural body fluid, resulting in rapid and efficient absorption.
  • Easy to mix, dissolves rapidly and stays in solution. Highly palatable formula.
  • No refrigeration required, even after solution is prepared.
  • Store at controlled room temperature 15 to 30 °C (59 to 86 °F).
  • Not for use in animals with severe dehydration (down, comatose, or in a state of shock). Such animals need intravenous fluids because oral therapy in these cases is too slow. A veterinarian should be consulted in such severely scouring calves or in cases requiring antibacterial therapy.
  • This product is not nutritionally complete if administered by itself for long periods of time. It should not be administered beyond the recommended treatment period without the addition of milk or milk replacer.
  • When reconstituted, has an osmolarity of 315-mOsm/kg.
  • Antibacterial therapy is often indicated in bacteria scours due to E. coli or salmonella. This product does not contain antibacterial agents.
  • Adequate colostrum intake during the first 12 hours is essential for healthy, vigorous calves.
  • For use in calves only.

Mixing directions: Add the contents of 1 packet (both sides) to 2 quarts of warm water. Stir until dissolved.

Scouring calves: Feed 2 quarts of Re-Sorb solution made up as directed, twice daily for 2 days (4 feedings). No milk or milk replacer should be fed during this period. For the next 4 feedings (days 3 and 4), use 1 quart of Re-Sorb solution mixed with 1 quart of milk or milk replacer. Thereafter, feed as normal.

Newly purchased calves: Feed 2 quarts of Re-Sorb solution made up as directed instead of milk as the ‘first feed’ upon arrival. For the next scheduled feeding, use 1 quart of Re-Sorb solution mixed with 1 quart of milk or milk replacer. Thereafter, feed as normal.
