Proin is used to treat urinary incontinence in dogs. Urinary incontinence in dogs can occur in both males and females, but it is most common in spayed females. The active ingredient, phenylpropanolamine, constricts and strengthens the bladder sphincter muscle, reducing leakage. Chewable, liver-flavored tablets are scored for easy dosing.

The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 mg per kg every 12 hours. It may take several days for full effect. The dosage may be gradually reduced after stabilization of the condition.
