Orbeseal is a sterile, non-antibiotic intramammary infusion in the form of a viscous paste (off-white). It is used for the prevention of new intramammary infections throughout the dry period. Orbeseal is composed of 65% Bismuth subnitrate in a mineral oil, providing a malleable barrier in the teat canal.
Labeled for: dairy cattle
Species: cattle
After using your current dry-cow treatment program, then use the Orbeseal®. The teats should be clean and dry. Using the alcohol pad provided, carefully clean the end of the teat until the alcohol pad wipes clean. Insert the Orbseal nozzle into the teat canal, hold the teat firmly and administer all the contents of one syringe slowly. Do not massage. Use one syringe per quarter.
To strip Orbeseal: grab the top of the teat (where it meets the udder) and work all the way down. Strip aggressively 10 to 12 times per quarter for the first 4 days post-freshening. Do not use milking machine to remove Orbeseal.
Milk into a bucket for the first 3 to 4 days post-freshening to ensure that no particles of Orbeseal remain.
