Lactated Ringers is an electrolyte fluid therapy for multiple species. Contains a sterile solution of water and electrolytes for animals needing supplementation due to illness, metabolic acidosis, or dehydration. Contains calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and sodium lactate. Has an osmolarity of 273 mOsm/l. May be administered intravenously, subcutaneously, or intraperitoneally (except in horses) using aseptic technique. It is often prescribed for pets to receive subcutaneous injection fluid therapy at home. Flexible plastic bag is ideal for I.V. fluid therapy in both large and small animal care.

May be administered by using a needle and syringe or drip set. Use as directed by your veterinarian. Pending your pet’s medical condition, your veterinarian will develop a fluid therapy plan including the calculation of the volume of fluids to be administered, the rate the fluids need to be delivered, and the type of fluids required. These products are available as a solution and are commonly administered either subcutaneously or intravenously.
Cattle and horses:Â 2 to 5-ml per pound of bodyweight, depending on size and condition of animal, repeated 1 to 3 times daily or as needed.
Swine and sheep:Â 2 to 5-ml per pound of bodyweight depending on size and condition of animal, repeated 1 to 3 times daily or as needed.
