Remove IV set from packaging. Disinfect in a mild antiseptic. Attach to a bottle of fluids on the larger end. Insert the needle of the appropriate size and length into the animal’s blood vessel or subcutaneously.
Allow the liquid from the bottle to flow through the tube, removing any air. Attach the needle to the tube. Adjust the rate of flow by adjusting the height of the bottle. When contents are completely administered, remove the needle and disinfect the needle and IV tube.
