Plan vaccination timing to allow thawing of vaccine at room temperature air or in a lukewarm water bath at 60 to 75 °F. Shake well, and use immediately. Administer in untreated, clean water.
For open trough water system: Remove all medications, sanitizers and disinfectants from drinking water 72 hours prior to vaccination. Flush system with non-chlorinated/ non-treated clean water. Add 1 ml per pig to the amount of water that will be consumed in 4 hours after thawing vaccine.
For automatic watering system equipped with proportioner: Remove all medications, sanitizers and disinfectants from water 72 hours prior to vaccination. Provide sufficient space to allow all pigs to drink within a 4 hour time frame. Flush system with non-treated clean water. Set proportioner to deliver 1 ounce of vaccine solution per gallon of water (see label for specific stock solution instructions).
If maternal antibody interference exists or not all pigs drink, revaccination is recommended in 3 to 5 weeks. Sows or gilts should be revaccinated prior to breeding.
