Rhinehart Electric Dehorner for calves and goats provides an effective and safe operation of dehorning calves and debudding goats. Each model functions with no blood loss or open flesh wound to the calf or goat. Handle stays cool with perforated housing. Becomes a heavy-duty soldering iron when soldering tip is attached. X40 and X50A work with all types of Rhinehart tips (not included). Solid copper tips maintains head heat for accurate performance.

X30 is used for smaller calf dehorning and goat disbudding (200 watts).

X40 is used for calf dehorning, soldering, goat disbudding and pigmy goat disbudding (adaptor tips sold separately for goat dehorning and soldering) (165 watts).

X50A is used for bigger calf dehorning, soldering, goat disbudding and pigmy goat disbudding (adaptor tips sold separately for goat dehorning and soldering) (239 watts).

  • This is a corded (8 ft) dehorner which does not require buying replacement butane canisters. 
  • An easy to use tool for a bloodless dehorning of calves younger than 6 weeks. 
  • Available in three types to fit all types of projects.
  • Do not use on small calves. 
  • This tool gets extremely hot; use with extreme caution. 
  • This is an electrical tool, store in a dry place and use away from moisture. 
  • Do not use this tool if the cord or plug becomes damaged.

It is recommended to give a local analgesic to any animal that is being dehorned. Restrain the animal and use a halter and lead rope to fix the calf’s head. Clip the hair around the base of the horn. Allow the dehorner to heat up completely. Use the correct sized tip so that it makes a ring ¼ of an inch around the horn. Place the dehorner over the horn and apply even pressure. Let the dehorner sit between 10 to 15 seconds.

When the dehorner is removed, there should be an even copper colored circle around the horn. If the circle is not there, replace the dehorner for another 10 seconds. The horn bud can be scooped out or allowed to slough off. Do not dehorn calves using this method that are older than 6 weeks.
