Rub the paste over and around the horn bud; making sure it gets down to the skin and is distributed evenly. Keep the animal away from others and out of the rain for at least 6 hours.
For older calves: To dehorn calves, between 6 to 8 weeks of age, remove the hair around the horn bud about one quarter of an inch around the base of the horn. Roughen up the skin with a scraper or file without drawing blood. Apply a thin film of past over the horn bud and roughened ring with a gloved hand. Apply only ounce. Make sure to work the paste into the skin.
