VetGun Aim-A abamectin VetCaps are scientifically developed gelatin capsules. These capsules are specifically formulated to compress on impact, leaving a visible mark indicating the cow has been treated. The shell of the capsule is designed to adhere to the animal’s coat ensuring complete absorption of medication. Abamectin formula (a macrocyclic lactone in the avermectin family) controls horn flies and lice on beef cattle. Use in rotation with Aim L capsules to prevent horn fly resistance while providing effective modes of actions to treat and manage horn flies. Administer only using the VetGun.

Labeled for: beef cattle and calves

Species: cattle

  • Helps manage horn fly resistance.
  • Easy insecticide delivery without the need to stress or contain animals.
  • Convenient delivery method allows a single producer to dose an entire herd out on pasture.
  • Capsules are made of natural materials which dissolve quickly after use and exposure to the elements.
  • Withdrawal time for meat: 90 days.
  • For use on beef animals over 600 lbs.
  • Use only with a VetGun delivery device.
  • Do not use in rain or if rain is expected within 24 hours.
  • Active ingredients: abamectin (avermectin B1a and avermectin B1b).
  • The capsules are sensitive to heat and humidity. Do not expose to relative humidity above 50% or temperatures above 70 °F for extended periods, 1 to 3 hours or more, as this may affect the level of capsule fragmentation.

For cattle over 600 lb: 1 capsule (10 ml). Use only as instructed in rotation with Aim L capsules.

The following is a sample rotation schedule of how Aim-L and Aim-A VetCaps could be used for control of horn fly and lice if first treatment of the season is with ivermectin.

  • Step 1: Treat with Aim-L when flies start to appear.
  • Step 2: Treat with Aim-A when flies approach approximately 200/animal.
  • Step 3: Treat with Aim-L 4 weeks after Aim-A treatment.
  • Step 4: Treat with Aim-A when flies approach approximately 200/animal.

During winter and early spring, treat with 2x Aim-L 2 weeks apart to control lice.
