SmartVet VetGun III Insecticide Delivery System is a revolutionary insecticide delivery device allowing producers to treat cattle for horn flies, face flies, biting and sucking lice without the need to confine them and add stress. This delivery system functions much like a paint ball gun, yet designed specifically for cattle treament use. CO2 powered to deliver a precise dose of Aim L or Aim A insecticide soft-gel capsules. Both insecticide capsules are EPA-registered for use on beef cattle and non-lactating dairy cattle. The capsules are designed to compress on impact, leaving a visible mark indicating the cow has been treated. The shell of the capsule is designed to adhere to the animal’s coat, ensuring complete absorption of medication. For use in beef cattle, non-lactating dairy cattle under 20 months of age, and calves over 600 lbs.

Labeled for: beef cattle and calves

Species: cattle

  • Provides the ability to treat cattle for horn flies without the need to stress them by confining them or running them through a chute.
  • Precisely delivers soft gels containing insecticides, reaching up to 30 feet in distance.
  • Engineered to avoid startling cattle and to minimize discomfort.
  • Protects from horn flies for 3 up to 6 weeks.
  • For animals over 600 lbs.
  • Powered with disposable or refillable CO2 canisters (sold separately).
  • For use with Aim-L and Aim-A VetGun capsules only (sold separately).
  • Kit comes with VetGun, VetCap feeder tube, adapter for both the 25 g and 90 g gas cartridges, spare O-ring set, operation manual and cleaning squeegee.

Begin by attaching the preferred CO2 canister using the correct adapter as shown in the owner’s manual. Do not load VetCaps until after dry-fire step. Lay down feed or blocks to attract animals to one area. Dry fire (without the VetCaps) from a distance of about 50 yards and work your way closer to get the animals accustomed to the noise the gun makes.

Once you are ready to treat the animals, tilt the gun forward and open the magazine tube. Load tube with VetCaps. Tilt the gun to make sure capsule has loaded, and release the safety catch. Fire from a distance of 15 to 30 feet at the upper flank (shoulder) area. Re-engage the safety until ready to fire again. See owner’s manual for tips to make dosing easier.
