Hold steel in in your non-dominant hand and the knife in your dominant hand. Run the length of the blade with slight pressure across the steel at about a 20-degree angle. Repeat 10 to 20 times. Flip blade over and repeat on the other side. Wipe knife with a cloth to remove metal fillings.
