A fast and easy colorimetric cow-side test for mastitic milk. Each quarter section of the blotter is designed to test the milk from the corresponding quarter of the cow’s udder. The dark section is for the detection of flakes and the yellow (round) area is for determination alkalinity; either present, indicates abnormal milk and represents evidence of mastitis infection.
Labeled for: dairy cows
Species: cattle
Remove blotter from container by grasping (see place indicated on the product), between thumb and forefinger of left hand. Discard first stream of milk from quarter to be tested. Then hold blotter in slanted position with the corner downward, so the milk stream will first cover dark area and run down over yellow round area.
If flakes are present they will remain on surface of blotter where they will show up clearly against the dark background, if milk is abnormally alkaline the yellow (round) area will change to a greenish blue color. The depth of this color usually shows a direct proportion to the degree of mastitis infection, as shown on color chart on opposite of product box.
